Will My Website Work the Same After Migration?

The aim of a website migration is to move the site so it works as closely as possible to how it worked before.

After a migration, the copied site should be checked before the domain is pointed to the new hosting. This gives you a chance to review the main pages, forms, images, menus and any important functionality.

Most straightforward sites move cleanly. However, some things can need extra attention:

  • Old code or outdated software.
  • Plugins or extensions that depend on server-specific settings.
  • Hard-coded file paths or URLs.
  • Contact forms and mail sending.
  • Ecommerce checkout or payment settings.
  • DNS and email records.

If something does not work as expected after migration, let support know what you have found and we can investigate.

For busy ecommerce, membership or booking sites, it is worth planning the migration carefully so new data is not missed during the move.
