How to Use Leech Protection in cPanel

Select a Directory

  1. Go to Security > Leech Protection.
  2. Browse to the directory you want to protect.

  1. Click the folder name to open subfolders.
  2. Click Edit or the folder itself to configure protection.

Enable Leech Protection

  1. Set the maximum number of logins allowed within a two-hour period.
  2. Enter a redirect URL for users who exceed the limit.
  3. Enter an email address if you want cPanel to send an alert.
  4. Tick Disable Compromised Accounts if cPanel should disable accounts that exceed the limit.
  5. Click Enable.

Disable Leech Protection

  1. Go to Security > Leech Protection.
  2. Open the protected directory.
  3. Click Disable.

Notes

  • Leech Protection works with password-protected directories.
  • Use Directory Privacy first if the folder is not already password protected.
  • Keep the login limit realistic so genuine users are not blocked by mistake.
