Uploaded Files But Can’t See My Site

If you uploaded your website files but cannot see the site, the files may be in the wrong folder, the homepage may have the wrong name, or your browser may still be showing an old version.

Check the Upload Folder

For the main website on your hosting account, website files should normally be uploaded to:

public_html

If the domain is not your main domain, check the domain’s document root in cPanel and upload the files to that folder.

Check the Homepage Filename

Your homepage should normally be named:

index.html

The filename must be lowercase.

Linux servers are case sensitive, so Index.html and index.html are different filenames.

Check File Permissions

Website files normally need permissions of 644.

Folders normally need permissions of 755.

Do not set files or folders to 777.

Clear Your Browser Cache

Your browser may still be showing an old version of the site.

Clear the browser cache or try a hard refresh.

On many Windows browsers, press Ctrl + F5 while viewing the page.

If It Still Does Not Work
