Set Up Email on an iPhone or iPad

You can add a 4UHosting mailbox to an iPhone or iPad using the built-in Mail app.

Before you start, make sure you have the full email address, mailbox password and mail server details for the account. If you are not sure which server name to use, please contact support.

To add the account:

  1. Open Settings on the iPhone or iPad.
  2. Go to Apps.
  3. Select Mail.
  4. Choose Mail Accounts.
  5. Select Add Account.
  6. Choose Other.
  7. Select Add Mail Account.
  8. Enter your name, email address, mailbox password and a description for the account.
  9. Choose IMAP unless you specifically need POP.
  10. Enter the incoming and outgoing mail server details.
  11. Save the account.

Use your full email address as the username for both incoming and outgoing mail.

Typical secure mail settings are:

  • Incoming mail: IMAP, port 993, SSL enabled.
  • Outgoing mail: SMTP, port 465 or 587, SSL enabled.
  • Username: your full email address.
  • Password: the mailbox password.

Although iOS may show the outgoing username and password as optional, they are normally required. Enter the same email address and password for the outgoing mail server.

If the device cannot verify the account, check the mailbox password, server name and port numbers. A small typo in the server name or email address is enough to stop the account from connecting.
