Point a Domain to Hosting Elsewhere

If your domain is registered with 4UHosting but the website is hosted somewhere else, you can point the domain to the other hosting provider.

The most common way to do this is to change the domain’s nameservers. Your new hosting provider should tell you which nameservers to use.

To change nameservers:

  1. Log in to the client area at https://clients.4uhosting.co.uk.
  2. Choose Domains.
  3. Find the domain and select Manage.
  4. Choose Nameservers.
  5. Enter the nameservers supplied by your hosting provider.
  6. Save the changes.

Nameserver changes can take time to update across the internet. In many cases this is fairly quick, but you should allow up to 24 hours.

Changing nameservers can affect website, email and other DNS records for the domain. If you use email with 4UHosting or another provider, check the DNS requirements before making the change.
