My Site Has Been Migrated. What Now?

After a website migration, the next step is to check the copied site before sending visitors to the new hosting account.

If we have provided a preview method, use it to check the site carefully. Look through the main pages, contact forms, images, menus, checkout pages and any areas that are important to your website.

When you are happy that the migrated site is working, the domain can be pointed to the new hosting. This is usually done by changing the domain’s nameservers or DNS records.

If your domain is managed through 4UHosting:

  1. Log in to the client area at https://clients.4uhosting.co.uk.
  2. Choose Domains.
  3. Find the domain and select Manage.
  4. Use the nameserver or DNS options shown for that domain.

If your domain is registered elsewhere, you will need to update the nameservers or DNS records with that provider.

DNS changes can take time to update across the internet. During this period, some visitors may see the old hosting while others see the new hosting.

If email is connected to the same domain, check with support before changing DNS. Website records and email records can be separate and changing the wrong record can interrupt mail delivery.
