Move from WordPress.com to WordPress.org

WordPress.com and WordPress.org are different. WordPress.com is a hosted platform, while WordPress.org refers to the self-hosted WordPress software you can install on your own hosting.

To move content from WordPress.com to a self-hosted WordPress site:

  1. Log in to your WordPress.com dashboard.
  2. Go to Tools > Export.
  3. Export your content.
  4. Install WordPress on your 4UHosting account.
  5. Log in to the new WordPress dashboard.
  6. Go to Tools > Import.
  7. Choose the WordPress importer.
  8. Upload the export file from WordPress.com.
  9. Follow the on-screen steps to import the content.

This normally moves posts, pages and other content included in the export. Themes, plugins and some media may need to be handled separately depending on the WordPress.com plan and export.
