Install a Theme in WordPress

You can install a WordPress theme from the WordPress theme directory or upload a theme ZIP file.

To install a theme from WordPress:

  1. Log in to your WordPress admin area.
  2. Go to Appearance.
  3. Select Themes.
  4. Select Add New.
  5. Search for the theme you want to install.
  6. Select Install.
  7. Select Activate if you want to use it straight away.

To upload a theme ZIP file:

  1. Go to Appearance.
  2. Select Themes.
  3. Select Add New.
  4. Select Upload Theme.
  5. Choose the theme ZIP file from your computer.
  6. Select Install Now.
  7. Select Activate when you are ready to use it.

After activating a new theme, check your homepage, menus and important pages to make sure the design still looks correct.
