Export a Database from phpMyAdmin

You can export a database from phpMyAdmin in cPanel. This creates a .sql file that can be downloaded to your computer.

To export a database:

  1. Log in to the 4UHosting client area at https://clients.4uhosting.co.uk.
  2. Choose My Services.
  3. Find the hosting service and select Manage.
  4. Select Login to cPanel from the left side.
  5. Open phpMyAdmin.
  6. Select the database you want to export.
  7. Choose Export from the top menu.
  8. Select Quick for a standard export or Custom if you need more control.
  9. Make sure the format is set to SQL.
  10. Select Export or Go to download the file.

For most normal backups, the quick SQL export is enough.

If the database is very large, the export may take longer or fail in the browser. If that happens, contact support and we can advise on the best way to export it.
