A strong password helps protect your account, website and email from unauthorised access.
Use a password that is long, unique and difficult to guess. Avoid names, birthdays, company names, domain names or anything someone could easily connect to you.
A good password should:
- Be at least 12 characters long.
- Use a mix of letters, numbers and symbols.
- Be different from passwords you use elsewhere.
- Avoid common words or predictable substitutions.
Using a password manager can make this much easier. It can create strong passwords for you and store them securely, so you do not have to remember every password yourself.
If you think a password has been shared, guessed or reused somewhere unsafe, change it as soon as possible.
