A subdomain is an extra address that sits before your main domain name.
For example, if your domain is example.co.uk, you could create a subdomain such as shop.example.co.uk, blog.example.co.uk or support.example.co.uk.
Subdomains are often used for separate sections of a website, test areas, shops, portals or applications. They can point to a different folder inside your hosting account.
To create a subdomain:
- Log in to the 4UHosting client area at https://clients.4uhosting.co.uk.
- Choose My Services.
- Find the hosting service and select Manage.
- Select Login to cPanel from the left side.
- Open Domains.
- Select Create A New Domain.
- Enter the subdomain you want to create, such as
blog.example.co.uk. - Choose the document root folder for the subdomain.
- Save the new domain.
The document root is the folder where the subdomain’s website files will live.
If your domain’s DNS is managed outside the hosting account, you may also need to create a DNS record for the subdomain.
