Additional Domains and Domain Aliases in cPanel

cPanel used to describe extra domains as addon domains and parked domains. In current versions of cPanel, these are usually managed from the Domains area instead.

An additional domain is used when you want to host a separate website on the same hosting account. It has its own document root, so the files for that site can sit in a different folder from your main website.

A domain alias is used when you want more than one domain to show the same website. For example, you might want the .co.uk and .com versions of a domain to load the same site.

In most cases, if two domains are for the same business or website, a redirect is better than showing the same content on both domains. A redirect sends visitors and search engines to the main version of the domain.

To manage domains in cPanel:

  1. Log in to the client area at https://clients.4uhosting.co.uk.
  2. Choose My Services.
  3. Find the hosting service and select Manage.
  4. Select Login to cPanel from the left side.
  5. Open Domains.

From there, you can add a new domain, check the document root for an existing domain or manage redirects.

If you are not sure whether you need an additional domain, an alias or a redirect, please contact support and we can advise before you make changes.
