Naming your Home Page

There are certain files that webservers look for when accessing a directory. These files are the ones that appear automatically when a domain name is entered into the browser.

The following names are recognized as home pages. They are sorted in order of priority. If for example, in one directory there are two of these filenames, then the server will load the file higher up on the priority list.

File names accepted and their priorities...

index.html
index.htm
index.php
index.shtml
index.wml

For internet capable WAP mobile phones, the file extension must not be .html, but .wml. WAP pages are supported in all our packages. The default document's name is then index.wml

Please note the order and character cases in these filenames. Your home page must be in lower case. If you upload a file named Index.html for example (with an uppercase I) it will not be recognized as your home page.
