These can normally be opened again in Outlook, but they may not open cleanly in every other email app.<\/p>\n<h2>Export a full mailbox<\/h2>\n<p>For a fuller backup, use Outlook&#8217;s export option:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Open Outlook.<\/li>\n<li>Go to <strong>File<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Choose <strong>Open &amp; Export<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Select <strong>Import\/Export<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Choose <strong>Export to a file<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Select <strong>Outlook Data File (.pst)<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Choose the mailbox or folders you want to export.<\/li>\n<li>Save the <code>.pst<\/code> file somewhere safe.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>A <code>.pst<\/code> file can be opened or imported into Outlook later. If the mailbox is large, the export may take some time.<\/p>\n<h2>Keep the backup safe<\/h2>\n<p>Store the exported file somewhere reliable, such as an external drive or a secure backup location.
