Some services ask you to add an SRV record to your domain DNS. This is common with services such as Microsoft 365, voice services and some chat or messaging systems.<\/p>\n

Before adding the record, check where your DNS is managed. If your domain uses 4UHosting nameservers and DNS is managed through your hosting account, you can add the record in cPanel. If your DNS is managed elsewhere, the SRV record needs to be added there instead.<\/p>\n

To add an SRV record in cPanel:<\/p>\n

  1. Log in to the client area at https:\/\/clients.4uhosting.co.uk.<\/li>\n
  2. Choose My Services<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  3. Find the hosting service and select Manage<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  4. Select Login to cPanel<\/strong> from the left side.<\/li>\n
  5. Open Zone Editor<\/strong> from the Domains<\/strong> section.<\/li>\n
  6. Find the domain and choose Manage<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  7. Select Add Record<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  8. Change the record type to SRV<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  9. Enter the values supplied by the service you are setting up.<\/li>\n
  10. Save the record.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    SRV records usually include a service, protocol, priority, weight, port and target. The service provider should give you these values. For example, they may provide a service such as _sip<\/code>, a protocol such as _tls<\/code>, a port number and a target hostname.<\/p>\n

    DNS changes can take time to update across the internet. If the new record does not work straight away, allow time for propagation and check that the values have been entered exactly as supplied.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
