For your main domain, this is usually <code>public_html<\/code>.<\/p>\n<p>This matters because files placed in the correct root directory can be loaded by visitors. For example, if your home page file is called <code>index.php<\/code> or <code>index.html<\/code>, it normally needs to be in the root directory for that site.<\/p>\n<p>To find the root directory for your main website:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Log in to the client area at https:\/\/clients.4uhosting.co.uk.<\/li>\n<li>Choose <strong>My Services<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Find the hosting service and select <strong>Manage<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Select <strong>Login to cPanel<\/strong> from the left side.<\/li>\n<li>Open <strong>File Manager<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Open the <code>public_html<\/code> folder.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>If you are checking a subdomain or another domain attached to the same hosting account, open <strong>Domains<\/strong> in cPanel. The document root is shown alongside the domain.<\/p>\n<p>Be careful when moving or deleting files in a website root directory. Removing the wrong file can stop the website from loading properly.
