You can move email manually by using an email app such as Outlook, Apple Mail or Thunderbird. This is useful when you need to copy mail from an old mailbox into a new one.<\/p>\n

The simplest method is to add both mailboxes to the same email app and copy the messages across.<\/p>\n

  1. Add the old mailbox to your email app using IMAP.<\/li>\n
  2. Create the new mailbox on your 4UHosting account.<\/li>\n
  3. Add the new mailbox to the same email app using IMAP.<\/li>\n
  4. Open the old mailbox in the email app.<\/li>\n
  5. Select the messages or folders you want to move.<\/li>\n
  6. Drag or copy them into the new mailbox.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    IMAP is normally the best option for this because it keeps mail synchronised with the server. POP can download mail to one device and may not be suitable for this type of move.<\/p>\n

    Some email apps may not like having two accounts with the same email address. If that happens, create a local folder in the email app and copy the old mail into that folder first. Once the old mail is safely stored locally, remove the old account from the email app, add the new mailbox, then copy the messages from the local folder into the new mailbox.<\/p>\n

    Large mailboxes can take time to copy. Keep the email app open until the upload has finished and check the new mailbox from webmail or another device before removing the old account.<\/p>\n
