It is important to enter this correctly, because changing the legal registrant later may require a Nominet registrant transfer.<\/p>\n<p>Nominet currently lists the registrant transfer fee at <strong>\u00a310 + VAT<\/strong>. Please check with us before making a legal registrant change, in case the process or fee has changed.<\/p>\n<h2>UK Registrant Types<\/h2>\n<p>UK domains can use several legal registrant types, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Individual<\/li>\n<li>UK Limited Company<\/li>\n<li>UK PLC<\/li>\n<li>UK Partnership<\/li>\n<li>UK LLP<\/li>\n<li>Sole Trader<\/li>\n<li>UK Registered Charity<\/li>\n<li>UK Entity (other)<\/li>\n<li>Foreign Organisation<\/li>\n<li>Other Foreign Organisation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In most cases, you will register a domain as an <strong>Individual<\/strong>, <strong>Sole Trader<\/strong>, or <strong>Limited Company<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2>If You Are Registering as an Individual<\/h2>\n<p>Enter the real legal name of the person the domain is being registered for in the <strong>Registrant Name<\/strong> field.<\/p>\n<p>Do not enter anything in the <strong>Company ID<\/strong> field.<\/p>\n<p>Registrant details for UK and EU customers are normally hidden from public lookup results because of GDPR and modern registry privacy rules.<\/p>\n<h2>If You Are Registering as a Sole Trader<\/h2>\n<p>Enter the real legal name of the person the domain is being registered for in the <strong>Registrant Name<\/strong> field.<\/p>\n<p>Do not enter anything in the <strong>Company ID<\/strong> field.<\/p>\n<h2>If You Are Registering as a Limited Company, PLC, or LLP<\/h2>\n<p>Enter the registered company name in the <strong>Registrant Name<\/strong> field.<\/p>\n<p>Enter the registered company number in the <strong>Company ID<\/strong> field.<\/p>\n<p>If the company number is missing or incorrect, the registration may be rejected.<\/p>\n<h2>If You Are Registering as a Registered Charity<\/h2>\n<p>Enter the registered charity name in the <strong>Registrant Name<\/strong> field.<\/p>\n<p>Enter the registered charity number in the <strong>Company ID<\/strong> field.<\/p>\n<p>If the charity number is missing or incorrect, the registration may be rejected.<\/p>\n<h2>Other Registrant Types<\/h2>\n<p>For UK Entity (other), Foreign Organisation, and Other Foreign Organisation, enter the entity or organisation name in the <strong>Registrant Name<\/strong> field.<\/p>\n<p>Do not enter anything in the <strong>Company ID<\/strong> field unless the order form specifically asks for it.<\/p>\n<h2>.ltd.uk Domains<\/h2>\n<p><strong>.ltd.uk<\/strong> domains are reserved for limited companies.<\/p>\n<p>The domain must match the registered company name exactly. These registrations are checked against Companies House.<\/p>\n<p>For example, a company called Example Limited could register <strong>example.ltd.uk<\/strong>, but it could not register <strong>examplehosting.ltd.uk<\/strong> unless that matched the registered company name.<\/p>\n<h2>Important<\/h2>\n<p>UK domain rules are strict.<\/p>\n<p>The registration may fail if:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>You choose the wrong registrant type.<\/li>\n<li>You enter a company or charity number when it is not needed.<\/li>\n<li>You leave out a company or charity number when it is required.<\/li>\n<li>The legal registrant name does not match the selected registrant type.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you are unsure which registrant type to choose, contact us before placing the order.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Please take care when ordering a UK domain name.
