To test incoming mail (POP3)
1. Click the Start button > All Programs > Accessories and then click Command Prompt.
2. In the command prompt window type the following. telnet yourdomain.com 110 Make sure you replace "yourdoman.com" with the name of your own domain.
If you receive a response +OK Hello there. then you know that the connection to your mailbox is fine. This means that you have a configuration issue with your email client.
If nothing happens or you get a timeout message then your PC cannot connect to the server to download email. Reasons for this are as follows...
An issue with your firewall blocking port 110 on your PC. Switch off your firewall and try again to test.
Your virus software could be configured to manage your email connections, this sometines causes this problem. Check your virus software settings.
Your IP address has been blocked by our server. This could happen if you have had a large number of login failures via Email or FTP. Contact support for assistance.
There is a problem with your mailbox on the server. You can login to webmail to test this. If you can send email from webmail then the problem is something else.
There is an issue on the server. This is unlikely but can happen ocasionally. Login to your account and check the latest news to see if any problems have been reported. If not, contact support via the helpdesk.
